Connect-VIServer Error: Invalid server certificate. Use Set-PowerCLIConfiguration

When you try to connect to vSphere /VCenter by powershell the default behavior of VMware PowerCLI when no valid certificates are recognized, use the InvalidCertificateAction parameter of the Set-PowerCLIConfiguration cmdlet.and the default parameter is Fail which cause below error

The correct solution for this issue is to replace vCenter certificate to trusted CA signed certificate or add root chain certificate. or by changing InvalidCertificateAction parameter to accept the not valid certificate

Run below command to check the PowerCLIConfiguration last status Get-PowerCLIConfiguration

Run below command to change the configuration to ignore

Set-PowerCLIConfiguration -Scope User -nvalidCertificateAction Ignore

Once cmdlet Connect-VIServer with vCenter fqdn or IP is invoked, it shows the certificate contents and connection is successful
